Deck overview

This Azorius deck utilizes Niko, Light of Hope to convert noncreature Shard tokens into temporary copies of high-impact nonlegendary creatures. By deploying Niko on Turn 4, the deck creates Shard tokens that lose summoning sickness, allowing them to attack immediately on Turn 5 when transformed into powerhouse threats like Battle Angels of Tyr or Overlord of the Mistmoors. A dense blink package featuring Ephemerate, Soulherder, and Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd repeatedly triggers enter-the-battlefield abilities to build overwhelming card advantage and token armies. Interaction is robust, featuring low-cost countermagic, premier white exile removal, and flexible sweepers like Farewell. Pillowfort pieces such as Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety stall opposing aggression while Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines and Fear of Sleep Paralysis lock down opposing engines. The deck consistently closes games through overwhelming evasive combat damage by Turn 7.
