Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Sultai midrange strategy that maximizes {X}-cost spells through its commander, Zaxara, the Exemplary. Zaxara functions as both a two-mana ramp accelerator and a continuous army generator, creating scalable Hydra tokens whenever an {X} spell is cast. The deck supports this game plan with specialized ramp pieces like Fanatic of Rhonas, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, and Elementalist's Palette, which convert high power and {X} casts into massive mana pools. Counter enhancers such as Branching Evolution, Corpsejack Menace, and Primal Vigor quickly scale tokens into lethal threats, while cards like Garruk's Uprising and Terrasymbiosis keep the hand full. The deck closes games around Turn 6-7 either by draining the table with massive casts of Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate, or by attacking with trampling, flying Hydras boosted by Craterhoof Behemoth or Finale of Devastation.
