Deck overview

This deck is an infect and proliferate midrange strategy commanded by Atraxa, Praetors' Voice. The game plan revolves around poisoning each opponent early with cheap toxic creatures like Plague Stinger or direct spells like Prologue to Phyresis and Ichor Rats. Once opponents have at least one poison counter, the deck deploys Atraxa alongside multiplicative engines like Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus, Inexorable Tide, and Deepglow Skate to rapidly proliferate those counters to lethal levels. Because poison counters never fade, the clock is continuous and bypasses traditional 40-life totals. The deck supports this game plan with versatile removal like Beast Within and Stroke of Midnight, selective protection like Snakeskin Veil and Unbreakable Formation, and board wipes like White Sun's Twilight. It lacks fast mana and dedicated tutors, relying instead on deep functional redundancy to assemble its poison countdown across turns four through seven.
