Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis midrange powerhouse commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord. The strategy focuses on accumulating massive Orc Armies while exploiting the Ring's temptation to churn through the library. In the opening turns, early enablers like March from the Black Gate and mana rocks lay the groundwork for deploying Sauron on Turn 5. Once Sauron is active, his oppressive Ward ability protects him while opponent spells continuously grow your Army. Combat connections trigger the Ring, allowing you to discard small hands and draw four fresh cards each turn. This card velocity quickly finds decisive finishers such as Assault on Osgiliath, Living Death, and Bolg, Erebor's Reckoning to eliminate the table by Turn 8. High-impact disruptive pieces like Orcish Bowmasters and Notion Thief punish opponents' draw steps, while The Ozolith ensures that accumulated +1/+1 counters survive creature removal.
