Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis spellslinger midrange strategy helmed by Anhelo, the Painter. The game plan revolves around leveraging recurring creatures with power 2 or greater, such as Bloodsoaked Champion, Skyclave Shade, and Lagomos, Hand of Hatred, to satisfy Anhelo's casualty 2 cost on the first instant or sorcery cast each turn. In the early game, the deck establishes mana velocity through 2-CMC rocks and cost reducers like Baral, Chief of Compliance before using casualty to double value spells like Big Score and Drawn from Dreams. As mana and Treasures accumulate via Storm-Kiln Artist, the deck transitions into the late game by copying massive game-ending sorceries like Army of the Damned and Clone Legion, or draining the table with Exsanguinate. While resilient to single counterspells due to casualty triggers, the deck primarily closes through wide combat steps that require defending token armies against opposing sweepers.
