Gargos Hydra Tribal by James803

Deck overview

This is a mono-green Hydra tribal deck commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. Gargos provides a massive {4} discount on Hydra spells and a fight trigger whenever a creature you control is targeted by a spell. The deck's core plan is to ramp aggressively, deploy cost-reducers, then dump huge X-cost Hydras onto the battlefield at a steep discount. The fight spells (Animist's Might, Primal Might, Ram Through, etc.) are used both to remove threats by targeting your own creatures and to trigger Gargos's fight ability for additional removal. The primary win condition is overwhelming combat damage from trampling, +1/+1-counter-fueled Hydras, often with Triumph of the Hordes for infect or Overwhelming Stampede / Finale of Devastation for massive pump. The deck is heavily reliant on the commander for its cost reduction and fight engine, but a suite of other cost reducers (Emerald Medallion, Herald's Horn, Urza's Incubator, The Earth Crystal) keeps the plan afloat even if Gargos is repeatedly removed.
