Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Gruul spellslinger and storm deck helmed by The Howling Abomination. The strategy revolves around targeting your commander with cheap 1-mana and 2-mana pump spells, cantrips, and protection instants. Each spell that targets the commander triggers two effects: it grants +2/+2 until end of turn and deals 2 direct damage to every opponent. When paired with draw engines like Keen Sense, Snake Umbra, or Season of Growth, every targeted spell replaces itself or draws multiple cards, enabling massive storm turns. Mana generators like Storm-Kiln Artist and Birgi, God of Storytelling provide continuous mana velocity to chain dozens of spells in a single turn. The deck wins by applying heavy noncombat burn across all three opponents simultaneously while delivering lethal trample combat damage to individual players. It relies on efficient instant-speed protection to keep the commander alive through removal.
