Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Gruul artifact prison strategy centered around Meria, Scholar of Antiquity. Meria transforms every cheap nontoken artifact into a mana engine and card-advantage outlet, effectively operating as an Urza-style commander in red-green. The deck leverages this unique resource conversion to break symmetry on devastating stax pieces like Winter Orb, Static Orb, Storage Matrix, and Trinisphere. By tapping these artifacts at the end of the preceding turn or for mana, Meria deactivates their symmetrical restrictions during your untap step while keeping opponents severely throttled. Backed by hate pieces like Blood Moon, Torpor Orb, and Collector Ouphe, the deck grinds opposing development to a halt on Turn 4. It converts this oppression into victory via heavy combat beaters like Nettlecyst, Hellkite Tyrant, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, or a total permanent lock with Karn, the Great Creator and Mycosynth Lattice.
