Deck overview

The deck uses Shadow the Hedgehog as a haste-based sacrifice engine. Its main pattern is to create temporary or hasty creatures, sacrifice them to Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, or Goblin Bombardment, and turn their deaths into cards, mana, damage, or life loss. Loyal Apprentice is the cleanest recurring fodder source once the commander is in play. Sothera, the Supervoid, Marionette Apprentice, Mayhem Devil, and Pitiless Plunderer convert that sacrifice activity into pressure. Temporary theft spells such as Claim the Firstborn, Act of Treason, and Insurrection can create explosive turns, especially when stolen creatures are sacrificed. The deck has broad permanent removal and several strong high-end effects, but its mana is mostly fair, its tutor density is low, and its win condition is not compact. It usually develops a value engine around turn 7 and a meaningful attrition threat around turn 8 or later, without a reliable table kill.
