Deck overview

Otrimi, the Ever-Playful leads a Sultai mutate deck that builds one large creature stack and converts successful combat damage into access to more mutate cards. Cheap non-Human creatures such as Slippery Bogle, Young Wolf, and Mysterious Egg provide targets, while Pollywog Symbiote reduces mutate costs and filters cards. The deck gains value from Auspicious Starrix, Trumpeting Gnarr, Dreamtail Heron, and Insatiable Hemophage, with Boneyard Lurker and Otrimi, the Ever-Playful recovering cards from the graveyard. It also has creature-based removal and a small counterspell package. Its main weakness is timing: most meaningful plays cost four or more mana, and the deck has few tutors or protective effects. A normal draw can establish the mutate engine around turns 6–7, but the first decisive board usually arrives turn 8 or later. The list can generate strong board value, yet it does not support a reliable compact kill or total lockout.
