Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan Voltron and graveyard-keyword strategy commanded by Kathril, Aspect Warper. The primary game plan fills the graveyard with keyword-rich creatures like Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Hit-Monkey using targeted tutors like Buried Alive and incidental self-mill. Once the graveyard holds a suite of abilities—including double strike, flying, trample, indestructible, and hexproof—Kathril enters the battlefield on turn 5. Kathril places these keyword counters on itself and receives a massive power boost, immediately becoming an 11/11 or larger threat with evasion and built-in protection. Kathril then eliminates opponents one by one through 22+ commander damage attacks on turns 6 through 8. If Kathril is unavailable or answered, backup payoffs like Cairn Wanderer, Odric, Lunarch Marshal, and Living Death leverage the same stocked graveyard to maintain high combat pressure. The deck features resilient threat scaling, but remains vulnerable to early graveyard exile, edict effects, and multi-turn combat pacing.
