Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Gollum, Obsessed Stalker, operating as an evasive combat tagger that turns massive bursts of lifegain into symmetric, table-wide life loss. The primary strategy consists of landing Gollum on Turn 2, equipping cheap evasion tools like Brotherhood Regalia or Bilbo's Ring on Turn 3, and systematically attacking each opponent once to permanently tag them with Gollum's damage condition. Once all opponents are marked, the deck leverages high-impact lifegain bombs—such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Shard of the Nightbringer, and Exsanguinate—to gain large amounts of life in a single turn. Gollum's end-step trigger then causes every tagged opponent to lose that exact amount of life, bypassing combat defenses and effectively burning the table simultaneously. Supported by robust instant-speed protection, mono-black mana acceleration, and redundant lifegain amplifiers like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, the deck reliably threatens a lethal finish around Turn 6 or 7.
