Nat the Rat by user4258340

Format: Commander

Commander: Vren, the Relentless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Vren, the Relentless leads a Dimir Rat-tribal attrition deck built on a simple loop: force opponents to sacrifice creatures, have Vren exile them instead of letting them die, and convert each exile into a 1/1 Rat at your end step. The deck packs an enormous edict suite - Fleshbag Marauder, Plaguecrafter, Demon's Disciple, Grave Pact, Sheoldred's Edict, Vona's Hunger, Make an Example, and more - to feed Vren's trigger while clearing the board. Backup token engines (Lord Skitter, Sewer King, Piper of the Swarm, Marrow-Gnawer, Tombstone Stairwell) and anthem effects (Patchwork Banner, Roaming Throne, Cover of Darkness) turn the swarm lethal, while Valley Rotcaller and Ayara, First of Locthwain drain life. The deck wins through wide combat plus incidental drain, backed by a dense interaction suite of counterspells, edicts, and board wipes that spare Rats.
