Format: Commander

Commander: Lord Xander, the Collector

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Lord Xander, the Collector heads a Grixis mill-and-reanimate deck whose goal is to empty every library and let the draw step finish the job. The deck combines Xander's attack/ETB/death triggers with Bruvac the Grandiloquent to turn "mill half your library" effects into near-total or total mills, Phenax, God of Deception to weaponize high-toughness creatures, and Mindcrank drain loops to kill the table outright. A strong reanimation package - Reanimate, Animate Dead, Necromancy, Breach the Multiverse, Rise of the Dark Realms - cheats out Xander or Worldgorger Dragon while also stealing the best creatures the milling has dumped. Games typically end off Maddening Cacophony plus Bruvac, a Mindcrank combo, or repeated Xander attacks. The commander is a powerful accelerant, but not the sole engine, giving the deck multiple ways to pivot between combo-mill, tap-mill, and big-mana reanimator lines.
