Deck overview

This Selesnya deck is piloted by Storm, Windrider, blending flying aggression, combat manipulation, and pillowfort protection. The core strategy establishes an evasive aerial vanguard using low-cost creatures like Healer's Hawk and Falcon and Redwing, supported by consistent 1-to-2 CMC ramp spells. Once Storm enters the battlefield, any targeted spell—including inexpensive combat tricks and cantrips like Defiant Strike, Seeds of Strength, and Viridescent Wisps—grants target creatures flying. This triggers Storm's static ability, preventing opposing creatures from attacking you or blocking your attackers. The deck layers soft lock pieces such as Magus of the Moat and Island Sanctuary to shut down opposing ground assaults, while +1/+1 counter engines like Stirring Hopesinger and anthems like Steel-Plume Marshal scale your evasive creatures. Games are closed out through unblockable combat damage across turns 6 to 9, defended by a robust suite of instant-speed hexproof and indestructible protection spells.
