Deck overview

This Golgari deck combines aggressive +1/+1 counter distribution, power-matters payoffs, and aristocrats combo finishes centered around Jenova, Ancient Calamity. The early game focuses on deploying 1-to-2 mana acceleration such as Birds of Paradise, Delighted Halfling, and Three Visits to cast Jenova ahead of curve on Turn 3. Once Jenova is established, she distributes counters equal to her power at combat, mutating allies and turning them into massive card-draw batteries whenever they die. The midgame leverages high-power creatures like Yargle and Multani and Lord of Extinction, converting their raw stats into explosive hand refills via Greater Good and Disciple of Freyalise. The deck closes games decisively on Turn 5 by assembling an infinite drain loop with Gravecrawler, Warren Soultrader, and Blood Artist, or by flinging giant creatures across the entire table with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Robust tutor density, potent recursion, and efficient removal provide high resilience and consistency throughout multiplayer pods.
