Deck overview

This mono-black deck runs an aggressive tempo engine commanded by Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor. It deploys evasive one-drop creatures on the first two turns to guarantee combat damage triggers the moment Gix enters on Turn 3. Drawing two to three extra cards every turn quickly fills the hand with mana accelerants like Dark Ritual, Grim Hireling, Crypt Ghast, and Cabal Coffers. The deck then transitions from early combat chip damage into massive midgame payoffs, resolving game-ending spells such as Peer into the Abyss, Psychosis Crawler, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Exsanguinate. It features a lean, highly efficient removal suite featuring Deadly Rollick, Snuff Out, and Toxic Deluge to keep opposing boards under control. While highly resilient against targeted interaction due to its extreme card velocity, the deck remains vulnerable to well-timed board sweepers and lacks stack-based countermagic against non-creature win conditions.
