Deck overview

This deck is an oppressive mono-black stax and attrition deck commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright. The primary strategy centers on assembling Tergrid on turns 4 to 5 alongside symmetric discard and sacrifice spells such as Dark Deal, Delirium Skeins, Pox, and Mindslicer. When these resolve, Tergrid steals all discarded permanent cards and sacrificed nontoken permanents across all three opponents, creating an immediate, game-ending resource disparity while leaving opponents top-decking with empty boards. The deck sustains this lock with asymmetric tax pieces like Oppression, Desolation, and Smokestack, and closes the game across two subsequent combat turns with stolen permanents, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or Syr Konrad, the Grim. As an alternative win condition, the deck features the compact two-card infinite combo of Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog. Low-cost protection spells defend Tergrid against targeted removal, making the deck resilient and consistently punishing.
