Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul leads a Simic Merfolk counter deck. Hakbal's exploration engine grows the board, draws into more Merfolk, and puts lands into play. The primary plan is a wide, unblockable swarm: cheap Merfolk, lord effects, and explore-triggered +1/+1 counters, then Herald of Secret Streams or islandwalk lords to finish. The secondary path is the same counter engine feeding Simic Ascendancy for an alternate win. No true hidden commander exists, but Emperor Mihail II, Kumena, and Deeproot Waters act as lieutenants. The deck is a mid-speed tribal value deck, not a combo list.
