Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Lifegain Voltron-Midrange strategy commanded by Karlov of the Ghost Council. The core game plan exploits a high density of low-mana lifegain triggers—such as Soul Warden, Guide of Souls, and Authority of the Consuls—to rapidly grow Karlov with two +1/+1 counters for every lifegain instance. Within three turns, Karlov becomes a massive combat threat and a repeatable removal piece capable of exiling opposing creatures for {W}{B}. The deck protects its commander using targeted shields like Skrelv, Defector Mite and mass phasing via Clever Concealment. While it eliminates opponents sequentially through commander damage, it also runs robust backup plans in Archangel of Thune, Crested Sunmare, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, giving the list resilient mid-game attrition and finishing power.
