Commander: Sheoldred, the Apocalypse

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This mono-black deck is laser-focused on weaponizing card draw through Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The strategy is twofold: deploy symmetrical draw effects like Howling Mine, Temple Bell, and Teferi's Puzzle Box to force opponents to draw, then punish them with Sheoldred, the Apocalypse's life-loss trigger, Underworld Dreams, Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted, and Orcish Bowmasters. Simultaneously, the deck generates massive life gain from its own draws (via Sheoldred, Phyrexian Arena, Necrodominance, etc.), fueling a Sanguine Bond / Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose / Enduring Tenacity combo that turns that life gain into a one-shot kill. The primary win condition is assembling the life-gain/drain combo with a burst draw spell like Peer into the Abyss or Ad Nauseam, while Bolas's Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir-style effects (not present) are absent. The deck is a slow-burn control deck that wins through incremental punishment and a sudden combo finish.
