Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Big Mana Control strategy helmed by Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath. The game plan revolves around generating massive mana reserves through Swamps, Cabal Coffers, and Crypt Ghast, while controlling the board with efficient creature removal and sacrifice-based attrition. Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath provides steady board presence by creating 5/5 flying Demon tokens and padding life totals. The deck leverages high-impact card draw engines like The One Ring, Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and Necropotence to dig for decisive finishers. The primary win condition is an overwhelming Torment of Hailfire or devastating life-drain sequences with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, backed by lethal aerial combat from Demon beaters. While exceptionally resilient against creature strategies and board wipes thanks to cheap reanimation like Reanimate and Animate Dead, the list remains vulnerable to counterspells and struggles to remove resolved noncreature artifacts and enchantments.
