Azula by Hazl

Format: Commander

Commander: Fire Lord Azula

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis combat-value strategy helmed by Fire Lord Azula, a 4/4 with firebending 2 (adds {R}{R} on attack) and a spell-copying trigger while she attacks. The primary game plan is to deploy Azula, attack with her to generate red mana, and cast instant-speed spells-especially Lessons-copying them for double value. The deck leans heavily on the firebending mechanic, with over a dozen creatures that produce mana on attack, creating a steady stream of resources to fuel copied spells, removals, and card advantage. The win condition is incremental combat damage from creatures like Ozai, the Phoenix King and The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin, occasionally accelerated by the extra turn from The Legend of Kuruk // Avatar Kuruk. The deck lacks a compact infinite combo but grinds out value through repeated spell copying and a modest recursion suite.
