Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Sphinx tribal and reanimator strategy helmed by The Ur-Sphinx. It leverages its commander's Eminence ability from the command zone to discount all Sphinx spells by one mana right from Turn 1. By combining low-cost mana rocks, dedicated cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Heartless Summoning, and cheap reanimation spells such as Reanimate and Animate Dead, the deck casts heavy flying threats several turns ahead of schedule. On Turn 4, it establishes a powerful card-advantage engine using Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign or Defiler of Dreams. By Turn 6, it develops an overwhelming evasive board featuring Magister Sphinx, Tivit, Seller of Secrets, and Dream Trawler, closing out the game with Duelist's Heritage or Akroma's Will. The deck defends its board with efficient 1-2 mana counterspells and spot removal, recovering rapidly from opposing sweepers by reanimating key Sphinxes directly from the graveyard.
