Hydra Schmydra by xiving

Format: Commander

Commander: Gargos, Vicious Watcher

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a mono-green Hydra tribal deck built around Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The primary game plan is to use Gargos's {4} cost reduction to deploy enormous Hydras ahead of curve, then leverage his fight trigger for removal and the deck's dense +1/+1 counter synergy to turn a single attack into a table kill via Hydra Omnivore or Kalonian Hydra with trample. The deck packs a suite of instant-speed protection spells, a few fight-based interaction pieces, and a handful of counter doublers. wins are purely combat-oriented - it has no infinite combos and no way to win outside of turning large creatures sideways.
