Deck overview

This mono-black deck is an aristocrats and reanimator strategy designed to leverage life totals, graveyard recursion, and explosive mana generation. Commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, the list uses its commander primarily as a high-end value engine and board wipe deterrent rather than an essential combo piece. Instead, the deck functions through compact mid-game engines powered by cards like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Warren Soultrader, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth. Fast mana ramp and rituals accelerate setup into game-altering haymakers like Living Death, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, and Archon of Cruelty. As creatures cycle between the battlefield and the graveyard, drain pieces such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star, and Blood Artist progressively strip life from the entire table. Asymmetric sacrifice effects from Grave Pact and Sheoldred keep opposing creature boards suppressed while the deck systematically closes out the game.
