Deck overview

Primo, the Unbounded commands a proactive Simic +1/+1 counters and Fractal token deck designed to overwhelm opponents through geometric power scaling and massive combat swings. The strategy revolves around leveraging creatures with base power 0—including Primo itself, classic Hydras, and Fractal tokens—to trigger Primo's ability upon dealing combat damage. Each successful combat connection generates a new Fractal token with counters equal to the damage dealt, creating a self-replicating army that quickly spirals out of control. Dense ramp and cost reduction enable early deployment of the commander and counter multipliers like Innkeeper's Talent, Unbound Flourishing, and Doubling Season. Evasion enablers such as Herald of Secret Streams and Garruk's Uprising ensure attacks connect reliably, while alternate win conditions like Simic Ascendancy provide non-combat paths to victory. Although vulnerable to mass sweepers due to its reliance on untapping with large boards, the deck maintains high redundancy among its beaters and counter doublers to close games reliably around Turn 7.
