Deck overview

The Ur-Sphinx commands an Esper tribal deck designed to cast massive, high-impact Sphinxes ahead of curve. The commander provides a constant {1} mana cost reduction from the command zone through its Eminence ability. Early turns focus on establishing mana rocks and kindred cost reducers such as Urza's Incubator, Watcher of the Spheres, and Herald's Horn. By Turn 4, the deck deploys elite card engines like Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign, Consecrated Sphinx, or Tivit, Seller of Secrets. These creatures rapidly refill your hand while establishing formidable aerial bodies. By Turn 6, multiple flying threats pressure opponent life totals while triggering attack abilities, including The Ur-Sphinx's ability to mill cards and cast spells for free. Efficient interactive spells such as Counterspell, Dovin's Veto, Anguished Unmaking, and Raise the Palisade protect your board and remove opposing blockers. The deck systematically overwhelms the table through relentless aerial combat, concluding games around Turn 8.
