Awaken the Blood Avatar Not Budget by Riverstyx

Format: Commander

Commander: Extus, Oriq Overlord // Awaken the Blood Avatar

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Mardu deck blends token generation with aristocrat death triggers. Extus's front side provides reusable recursion for nonlegendary creatures via magecraft, while the back face offers a board wipe plus a hasty Avatar token, making it a versatile midrange engine. The primary plan is to flood the board with tokens, then sacrifice them to drain opponents through Cruel Celebrant, Mayhem Devil, Zulaport Cutthroat, or similar effects. Secondary paths involve copying spells with Flare of Duplication, Reverberate, and Pyromancer's Goggles to amass tokens or create lethal combat damage. The commander is an engine and finisher, but the deck can threaten with token swarms and drain effects even if he stays out. Hidden commanders include Sephiroth and Silverquill, which also reward spell casting and sacrificing.
