Deck overview

Avacyn, Angel of Horror leads a resilient Mono-Black Aristocrats and Reanimation deck centered on sacrifice engines, asymmetric attrition, and compounding life drain. The deck accelerates through explosive black rituals, utility lands like Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and mana converters like Warren Soultrader. It establishes early board presence with recursive fodder and sacrificial edicts such as Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder. Once the engine is online, Grave Pact and The Darkness Crystal clear opposing creature boards while Blood Artist, Bastion of Remembrance, and Vein Ripper drain life totals across the table. Deploying Avacyn, Angel of Horror transforms every nontoken sacrifice into an end-step recursion loop, compounding enter-the-battlefield and death triggers every turn rotation. Late-game finishers such as Living Death, Rise of the Dark Realms, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel provide devastating bursts that close out games through overwhelming board dominance and non-combat life loss.
