Deck overview

This is a mono-black Rat Colony tribal deck helmed by Karumonix, the Rat King, built to flood the board with 17 copies of Rat Colony and turn them sideways. Karumonix's ETB digs five cards deep for Rats, and his toxic 1 ability turns every Rat into a poison threat. The deck layers a poison/infect subtheme - Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, Phyrexian Crusader, Ichor Rats, Grafted Exoskeleton, Tainted Strike, and Hatred - alongside a proliferate package (Karn's Bastion, Contagion Engine, Glistening Sphere, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician) to close games either through overwhelming combat damage or a 10-poison kill. Lords like Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm and Marrow-Gnawer provide the pump and exponential token generation, while a dense tutor suite (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Imperial Seal) and draw engines (Necropotence, The One Ring) keep the swarm coming. The deck is a midrange aggro-tribal build that wins through redundancy and inevitability rather than a single combo.
