Format: Commander

Commander: Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is built around Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, using its end-step recursion to loop power-1 creatures for repeated death triggers. The primary plan is to grind out incremental life loss via Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Ayara while maintaining card advantage through Dark Prophecy and The One Ring. Secondary wins come from infinite sacrifice loops with Ashnod's Altar or Soldevi Adnate plus Reassembling Skeleton, and from a large Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The commander is the engine: returning small dorks every turn. Ayara, First of Locthwain acts as a hidden commander, providing drain and draw. The deck can pivot between slow grind and fast combo.
