Commander: Toph, the First Metalbender

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Toph, the First Metalbender turns your artifact permanents into lands and earthbends a hasty animated land every end step. The deck's primary plan is to amass +1/+1 counters on lands and swing with enormous animated land/artifact creatures, often using the hidden commander Toph, the Blind Bandit, whose power scales with counters on lands. Wrenn and Realmbreaker, Yavimaya, and Swampbenders convert artifact-lands into real mana sources. Secondary paths include vehicles such as Lumbering Worldwagon and N'Yami-Class Mother Ship, extra-combat turns from Moraug, Fury of Akoum, and an infect finish with Blightsteel Colossus. The commander's role is central: it enables the artifact-land engine and provides consistent counter generation, but the deck can still win through other earthbenders and big threats.
