Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov attrition and control strategy commanded by Athreos, Shroud-Veiled. The primary game plan focuses on establishing early mana acceleration and consistent card draw engines, deploying Athreos on Turn 5, and using its indestructible nature to break parity on mass board wipes. By placing coin counters on key opposing threats or valuable domestic creatures, the deck steals and recurs powerhouses through sweepers like Wrath of God and Damn. It grinds down opponents with asymmetric attrition engines such as Grave Pact, Massacre Wurm, and Archon of Cruelty. The deck closes games around Turn 9 via accumulated life drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star, or by delivering a lethal alpha strike backed by Akroma's Will. While it possesses dense removal and strong creature suppression, its slower combat clock and reliance on natural draws for specific finishers define its mid-power control profile.
