Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul is a Simic Merfolk engine: each attacking Merfolk explores, converting lands into a full hand and turning nonlands into +1/+1 counters. The primary plan is to deploy a critical mass of cheap Merfolk, anthem lords, and token producers, then win with an oversized, often unblockable combat step. Emperor Mihail II and Realmwalker allow casting Merfolk from the top of the library, while Seafloor Oracle and Tatyova convert damage and landfall into draw. Hakbal also places extra lands from hand onto the battlefield, fixing mana while accelerating the board. The deck has no infinite combos and relies on aggressive, resilient combat.
