Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated combo-control build helmed by Mairsil, the Pretender, focused on accumulating game-breaking activated abilities in exile. By tutoring high-impact creatures and artifacts into the graveyard with cards like Buried Alive, Unmarked Grave, and Lively Dirge, Mairsil cages versatile utility pieces. The primary win line leverages Aetherling to repeatedly flicker Mairsil on each player's end step, rapidly assembling cage counters on Anthroplasm and Sage of Hours. Once assembled, Mairsil adds five +1/+1 counters and removes them to take infinite consecutive turns, entirely locking opponents out of future turn cycles. Backup routes utilize Quicksilver Elemental to circumvent Mairsil's once-per-turn activation restriction, producing infinite mana with Gilded Lotus and Horseshoe Crab to machine-gun the table with Hateflayer, or closing with Divining Witch and Thassa's Oracle. A lean suite of spot removal, counterspells, and board wipes ensures survival while setting up the graveyard.
