Commander: Baron Helmut Zemo

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This mono-black deck uses dredge, self-mill, and tutors like Entomb and Buried Alive to fill its graveyard with high-mana-value black spells. Its commander, Baron Helmut Zemo, connives when you cast black spells from hand and can activate boast after attacking: exile black cards from the graveyard with at least fifteen black mana symbols among their costs, then cast up to three of them without paying their mana costs. The primary win line uses boast to cast game-ending spells like Doomsday Excruciator or Army of the Damned for free. Secondary plans include reanimating powerful demons, draining opponents with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and grinding value through card draw and life-loss synergies.
