Deck overview

This Golgari deck is a dedicated exhibition build constructed under a strict kindred constraint: every single nonland card in the 99 is an Insect creature. This design maximizes Grist, the Hunger Tide's +1 loyalty ability, turning each activation into a chaining mill engine that fills the graveyard and builds a token army. With roughly 70 percent of the deck consisting of Insects, Grist routinely mills multiple cards and generates multiple tokens per activation. The deck leverages this full graveyard for mid-to-late game burst damage via Grist's -5 ultimate, supplemented by broad swarm payoffs such as Aatchik, Emerald Radian, Hornet Queen, and Living Hive. Because it eschews noncreature spells, its interactive capabilities and plan shielding are restricted to creature enters-the-battlefield abilities and combat presence.
