Deck overview

This Izzet control deck is led by Red Death, Shipwrecker, utilizing forced combat and untap engines to control the flow of the game. Casting the commander on Turn 2 enables consistent ramp and targeted goad activations starting on Turn 3. The deck leverages untap permanents like Sting, the Glinting Dagger, Aphetto Alchemist, and Magewright's Stone to activate Red Death multiple times per turn cycle, generating surplus mana while forcing opponents' largest creatures into mutual combat. Opponent draw triggers are punished with Razorkin Needlehead and Scrawling Crawler, while Bothersome Quasit and Disrupt Decorum prevent opposing blocks. The deck wins by turning opponents against each other through Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos, overloading Spectacular Showdown, or executing the compact infinite damage loop between Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Curiosity. Backed by cheap counterspells and efficient removal, the deck excels at dictating table pace and finishing weakened survivors.
