Deck overview

Garland, Royal Kidnapper leads a monarch-theft control deck. The primary plan is to put an opponent on the throne, steal their best creature for as long as they hold the crown, and let Garland's +2/+2 anthem convert those stolen threats into a combat win. Flicker effects re-trigger the kidnapper and other ETB thieves, while monarch draws and a large interaction suite keep the hand full. Secondary paths include casting from opponents' libraries with Thief of Sanity, Brainstealer Dragon, Xanathar, and Court of Locthwain, and mass reanimation with Rise of the Dark Realms. There is no true hidden commander; Starscream and Custodi Lich are secondary monarch payoffs. No two-card combo exists, so the deck wins by grinding card advantage and stealing enough board to overwhelm all three opponents.
