Deck overview

This Esper reanimator deck uses Hashaton, Scarab's Fist to cheat massive creature payoffs into play as 4/4 black Zombie tokens for only {2}{U} whenever a creature card is discarded. Supported by a dense suite of free and low-cost discard outlets like Psychic Frog, Ghostly Pilferer, and Cryptbreaker, the deck rapidly bins game-ending threats such as Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Consecrated Sphinx, Archfiend of Ifnir, and Grave Titan. It pairs this aggressive reanimation engine with premier free countermagic including Force of Will and Fierce Guardianship, as well as turn protection from Voice of Victory. Once an oppressive threat or wide Zombie army is established, the deck enhances its tokens with flying from On Wings of Gold, hexproof from Gleaming Overseer, and afflict from Lost Monarch of Ifnir, while The Scarab God provides inevitable upkeep drain to close the game across two combat rotations.
