Deck overview

This Golgari deck utilizes Gorma, the Gullet to turn creature deaths into growing board presence and an explosive combo win condition. Gorma grants nontoken creatures additional +1/+1 counters equal to the number of creatures that died this turn. When combined with persist creatures such as Putrid Goblin, Rendclaw Trow, Puppeteer Clique, and Woodfall Primus, the +1/+1 counters cancel out the persist -1/-1 counters through state-based actions. With a free sacrifice outlet like Viscera Seer, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, or Greater Good, this creates an infinite sacrifice loop. Paired with drain engines like Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, or Cauldron of Essence, the deck drains all three opponents from 40 to 0 on the turn the combo resolves. Backup plans leverage massive token swarms with Tend the Pests and Ribtruss Roaster, life-drain attrition with Defiling Daemogoth, or table-wide life loss by sacrificing an enormous Gorma to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.
