Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck uses Braids, Conjurer Adept to bypass the steep mana costs of massive Eldrazi and Leviathans. Casting Braids on Turn 4 allows the pilot to drop game-ending threats like Stormtide Leviathan and Pathrazer of Ulamog directly onto the battlefield on Turn 5. To break the symmetrical drawback of Braids giving opponents free permanents, the deck leverages phasing tools such as Vanishing and Vodalian Illusionist to remove Braids before opponent upkeeps. Once large beaters are in play, the deck converts opposing lands into Islands with Harbinger of the Seas, Quicksilver Fountain, and Spreading Seas, enabling unblockable islandwalk attacks while locking down opposing ground assaults. A sturdy suite of counterspells and protective equipment shields Braids and the cheated monsters from removal as they whittle down life totals over consecutive combat steps.
