Deck overview

This deck uses Captain N'ghathrod as a tribal engine. Evasive Horrors connect, mill opponents, and can let the commander steal a creature or artifact milled during that combat. The best games develop a mana rock, cast the commander around turn 5, and attack with a pre-existing Horror on turn 6. Court of Cunning, Nemesis of Reason, Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar, and Kindred Discovery can turn repeated attacks into stronger card and graveyard pressure. The deck also has useful creature removal, a few counters, and a modest protection package. Its main weakness is that milling and theft do not naturally equal lethal damage. The list lacks broad tutoring, compact combo access, and enough protection to force a long combat-based plan through interaction. It is a functional casual tribal midrange deck, not a competitive combo or lock deck.
