Format: Commander

Commander: Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait is the sole commander and the deck's main engine: every extra land becomes a card. The plan is to ramp to six mana, cast Aesi, then layer extra-land effects such as Tatyova, Oracle of Mul Daya, and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove to chain draws into more lands. Secondary paths are a large landfall beatdown with Rampaging Baloths and Avenger of Zendikar and a compact Kodama of the East Tree + Meloku loop that makes unlimited token attackers. The deck has strong tutoring for these pieces, but it is combat-terminated and has little protection, so it usually wins by overwhelming the board rather than with a one-card instant kill.
