Final Fantasy VIII by v0ice

Format: Commander

Commander: Squall, Gunblade Duelist

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Squall, Gunblade Duelist is a Mardu pressure deck built around a chosen number-usually 1-so almost every hasty 1-toughness attacker makes Squall burn the defending player for 3 each combat. The primary plan is to chain Ball Lightning-style threats, recur them, and ride Squall's trigger and first-strike combat damage to a quick knockout. Secondary paths use Garna/Kardur death pings and goad effects to finish in chunks, while Lagomos, Hand of Hatred acts as a hidden commander: once the self-sacrificing attackers die, he tutors up combat finishers or answers. The commander is the payoff rather than an engine; the deck would still attack without it, but loses reach.
