Deck overview

This deck is a high-power mono-black resource-denial and attrition strategy commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around deploying Tergrid ahead of curve using ritual acceleration and mana doublers, followed immediately by symmetrical sacrifice and discard spells. Effects such as Dark Deal, Pox, Smallpox, Death Cloud, and Mindslicer strip all three opponents of their hands, creatures, and lands while Tergrid's static ability steals every discarded permanent card and sacrificed permanent directly onto your battlefield. This asymmetric theft converts symmetrical attrition into an insurmountable permanent advantage. Supporting lock pieces like Contamination, Oppression, and Braids, Cabal Minion ensure opponents cannot rebuild, while cheap protection spells like Kaya's Ghostform and Undying Evil shield Tergrid from removal. Once opponents are locked out of cards and mana, the stolen army swings across two combat cycles or fuels a massive Torment of Hailfire to decisively close the game.
