Deck overview

This Golgari deck combines poison, toxic, and -1/-1 counter mechanics with Snake and deathtouch synergies led by Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. The game plan focuses on establishing early poison counters on all opponents through efficient attackers such as Fynn, the Fangbearer, Bloated Contaminator, and Blight Mamba, or global spells like Vraska's Fall. Once poison is applied, the deck accelerates the clock using proliferate engines including Staff of Compleation, Drown in Ichor, and Vraska, Betrayal's Sting, or by compounding poison damage via Innkeeper's Talent and Triumph of the Hordes. Hapatra generates a resilient army of 1/1 deathtouch Snake tokens whenever -1/-1 counters are distributed, which doubles as board defense and combat pressure under Fynn. While the deck possesses strong creature-based redundancy, its reliance on combat connections and vulnerability to creature sweepers define its operational limits.
