Deck overview

This deck is a five-color spellslinger and synergy deck built around the Prepare mechanic and Paradox triggers ('cast from anywhere other than your hand'). Commanded by Codie, Ravenous Codex, the strategy focuses on casting prepared spells from creature cards, which Codie duplicates for overwhelming value. As these prepared copies are cast, they trigger potent Magecraft and Paradox payoffs such as Archmage Emeritus, Vega, the Watcher, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Iraxxa, Empress of Mars. Mana velocity from low-cost artifacts and rituals like Blazing Firesinger // Seething Song enables explosive multi-spell turns. While the list lacks deterministic tutors, its high concentration of prepare creatures and deep card draw allow it to reliably assemble critical boards by Turn 6. The deck closes games on Turn 7 by swarming the board with Alien tokens or executing large-scale burn and life drain via Impending Flux, Passionate Archaeologist, and Stensian Sanguinist // Exsanguinate.
