Deck overview

This Abzan aggressive deck is led by Doran, Besieged by Time, which rewards playing creatures with wide gaps between power and toughness. When these creatures attack or block, Doran boosts their stats by the difference between their power and toughness. This turns inexpensive glass-cannon creatures like 5/1s into massive 9/5 attackers, 0/4 mana dorks into 4/8 blockers, and Yargle and Multani into a monstrous 30/18 threat. The mana base uses low-cost mana dorks and land ramp to cast Doran on Turn 3 and start applying combat pressure by Turn 4. Large-power payoffs like Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Lifestream's Blessing, and Essence Harvest generate mana, cards, and direct life drain. The deck finishes games around Turn 8 through wide combat swings empowered by trample enablers such as Overrun and Jubilation.
